1015 Onion Festival in Weslaco, TX 3/23 2 Comments / Blog / By Timbo The 1015 Onion Festival is celebrated every year here. These onions are real sweet and locals will eat them raw or cooked. The name, I was told, references the date to plant the onions. This is the free bag of onions line! Mary keeps running in to this old guy and wants a picture of him just in case we need to ID him. Port of Brownsville Tour 2 Comments / Blog / By Timbo Port of Isabell Light House. On our tour boat. Didn’t see anyone else going out on the front of the boat. Took this picture from the front of our tour boat looking back. Kinda hard to do without holding on to something. The bridge to South Padre Island. They have a door to the Port of Brownsville. I guess you can’t get it without your FOB! Bird sanctuary island. No people allowed. Another picture of the bird sanctuary island. You can see the birds. Dry docked shrimp boat being worked on. Docked shrimp boats. This is shrimp season but diesel fuel to too costly for the boats to to go out and fish. Our guide said it costs about $75,000 to fill the fuel tanks! Ship waiting to be demo’d. Recycling ships is a big business in Brownsville. This will be SpaceX’s sea going mobile launch platform. Starbase is just a few miles from here. I could see the Starships, the launch pad and buildings but they were too far off for pictures. Construction of an off-shore drilling platform. This is a sea going barge.
